What To Do While You're Waiting...
How are you, FNL writers? It's been a long, quiet summer, but cheer up, fall is on the way! And what better way to gear up for the new tv season than by writing some fic?
I had said we might do another ficathon before the summer hiatus was over, and here I am, back with two ideas. One is an exchange (like before) and one is just having a blanket prompt that people can write for, or not. No pressure.
If you're interested, read further....
So, for the exchange, I was thinking of having a Redux challenge. If you're unfamiliar, a redux is where you would take another author's fic and retell the story, putting your own spin on it. Maybe you change the main character's point of view, or you change the setting or the time the story takes place. So you would sign up, and leave a link to where your author can find your fic (or you can be specific if there is really only one or two fics of your own where you would like to try this). The only stipulation for the sign-ups is that you have to have previously written at least one FNL fic.
I've wanted to do this one for a while, and I've discussed the idea with a few people. Rewrite a classic fairy tale or folk story or famous childrens story with the characters from FNL. For example, put a Tyra Collette spin on Cinderella, or imagine Smash as Peter Pan. Can you picture Lyla as A Little Princess? This would not be an exchange, but there would be a deadline.
Either way, I will sign-ups opened by Tuesday if there is any interest, because I'll be leaving the country for a couple of weeks on Wednesday.
